I'm back! Did you miss me? It's time for you weekly dose of Friday Feelgood!

I wasn't here last week because I was in Innsbruck, Austria at the #rollerderbyworldcup!

What's gone well for you this week? - share below so we can all bask in your joy!

My #FridayFeelgood this week comes in the form of rejuvenated love for sport and my involvement in the Roller Derby World Cup 2025.

For a very long time (10 years or so) I played the wacky sport of roller derby for Belfast (my home team) and internationally for Team Ireland . Since retiring in about 2019 I've always stayed involved in some way, whether that was as a coach or an announcer.

One of the first people I met in roller derby from 'across the water' got back in touch with me as the announcing crew were looking for producers. Knowing that I had some experience in TV production and could be handy round a microphone she knew it would be right up my street!

I headed off to Innsbruck not entirely sure what to expect but knowing that the roller derby community was a great one, I wasn't perturbed about heading along alone.

I had one evening to get used to my surroundings before we started nice and early around 8am, which would be the theme for the next four days. I was on a team that worked from 8am to about 6 or 7pm every evening providing in-house announcing, live stream announcing and video.

As a producer, my job was to sit next to the announcers on the live stream and give them updates on the game and listen out to them ticking the boxes for our commercial advertising commitments. I have to be honest, the level of professionalism in all crews I worked with meant that my job was relatively stress free and a lot of fun, although quite intense at times.

From the second, third and fourth days I worked as both producer and in-house announcer which really is great fun, a chance to talk about the nitty gritty of the sport and keep the audience motivated to cheer for their team.

This weekend will stay with me for a long time and it's given me the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills which I hope to put to the test again soon!

Let me know your feel goods and if you're in NI this weekend, please stay safe and have a great time in the nice weather!

Until next week....

If you're in need of an MC for your sports event or someone to hand you little post-it notes to remind you to say things.....or a voiceover (I still do that too) then hit me up here or on my website!

A pin board that has 4 polaroid photo frames on it and text on top reads 'Friday Feelgood'. The photos from left to right feature the roller derby world cup 2025 logo, Oonagh O'Flaherty Voiceover with two announcers in a selfie. Another selfie of Oonagh with announcers in the background and finally a photo of Oonagh sitting at a video production desk.

Bonjour bonjour bonjour!

Here we are at the end of another week - time really does fly when you're having fun!

Straight in with the #Fridayfeelgood today and this week mine was wrapping up another #audiodescription job, and this one was really fun!

Grand Opera House Belfast had me in the gods last night audio describing Only Fools and Horses the musical. I can't lie, I really didn't think it would be up my street but some really canny writing and excellent performances turned this 'job' into a real pleasure.

There's a lot of preparation work that goes into audio describing any stage production but this one was possibly one of the most intense so far. Multiple characters, some intricate sets and a really pacey script meant that I had to be 'on me toes guv'.

Tell me about your Friday feelgood or as a bonus offer this week - tell me about something in your work that takes loads of preparation but gives you the most satisfaction when the job is complete!

I hope that you have a lovely weekend whatever you're up to! I'll be at the sports and then back on Sunday for some more audio description for the lovely folks in University of Atypical!

It's here again - this was a quick week alright!

I hope that you're having a great week so far and that you're headed into some downtime or mad - running around sports time (if you're anything like me!)

If you're new to my page on a Friday you won't know that this is where we share our #FridayFeelgood - what made us feel great this week!?

Baked a cake? Share your feel good! Walked the dog? Share your feelgood! Engineered a multi layered deal with a neighbouring country that will get you a promotion? Share your feelgood! You get the idea....

With that, my feelgood this week is starting the week voicing a lovely job with the even lovelier folks @Maple Street Creative and my follow up to that feelgood is that I'm working on a new audio descriptive performance where I get the chance to live and breathe a piece of theatre for a couple of days then help make it a more rounded experience for those with sight loss.

Pretty great all round!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to share your feelgoods with me!

p.s how cute is my script supervisor on this #takeyourdogtoworkday
